RO/RODI Booster Pump Power Station Product Overview

Super charge your reefkeeping system with the RODI Booster Pump Power Station! With this product, you can drive the output quantity and water quality too new heights. The power station can supply .50 gpm. at 60 psi to your reefkeeping RO system. Every feature you will ever need is included with the purchase of this pump power station!

City and well water pressure can be as low as 30 PSI. The ideal water pressure for an RO system is 60 to 65 PSI and thus increasing by increasing your PSI up to this level the more efficient the RO system will be.

What You Get with the RODI Booster Pump Power Station:

Every feature you will ever need is included. You can use the power station to drive (35-150) gallon per day systems. We do not like to add the RO/RODI Booster Pump on to household pressure which already exceeds 50 PSI, as this is sufficient pressure to make water and the extra cost/work of adding a booster pump is not generally worth the effort.

You will not have to re-plumb your system. Simply connect the RODI/RO power station in the water supply line and connect your reefkeeper inlet to the power station. Connections are quick connecting. This is an "on-demand" system which shuts itself down once the desired PSI water pressure has been achieved. You can be up and running in no time at all. We have connected and hooked up everything and supplied everything you need. This is a virtual plug & play system.

Booster Pump Power Station Benefits:

  • Stops Small Particles: In-line sediment filter that stops small dirt particles that could ruin your pump. (This prefilter is optional if you have good city water. )
  • Prevents High Pressure Water Backups: In-line check valve prevents higher pressure water from backing up into your plumbing. This pump is a .5 GPM @ 60PSI quiet running booster pump. (Please limit pressure to 65 PSI). The pumps maximum capacity of 80 PSI must be reduced downward by a simple adjustment to the adjustable high pressure cut out switch. The allen wrench to make this adjustment is also included.
  • Balances Your Water Pressure: Our exclusive brass needle valve which is included is a flow control locking needle valve to balance your existing pressure with the boosted pump water pressure.
  • Low Voltage Transformer: With the purchase of the booster pump power station also includes a low voltage transformer.
  • PSI Water Pressure Gauge/Ball Valve: Lastly, a 150 PSI water pressure gauge and a in-line ball valve is included.

How to Install the RO/RODI Booster Pump Power Station

This pump has been set up to be placed in front of your RO unit. Some folks have had better success by installing it AFTER the pre-filters and just before the water goes into the membrane; to do so it just takes a little tubing to install this way, as all of the fittings that come with this unit can be re-used for this configuration.

The RODI power station can easily pressure up any RO system to full operational operating pressure. Most RO systems can expect a 15 to 20 PSI boost in water pressure.

Here are the steps to a proper RO/RODI Booster Pump Power Station installation:

  1. Connect the water supply from your house to the pump.
  2. Attach an inline ball valve in the tubing after the PSI gauge. Attach the tubing after the ball valve into a drain (not into the RO unit yet).
  3. Turn on the house water. Close the ball valve and note the PSI pressure on the gauge. This is your house PSI. If your PSI is already over 50 PSI, we do not recommend adding this pump as the cost-benefit is not justified.
  4. Open the ball valve, then plug in the pump. The pump should start. Close the ball valve, and the pump should stop.
  5. Wait 3 seconds after closing the ball valve, then note the PSI pressure on the gauge. This PSI pressure should be no more than 15 to 20 PSI higher than your house PSI.
  6. To adjust the PSI, use the limit switch and the provided Allen wrench. Turn clockwise to increase PSI and counterclockwise to decrease PSI. Note that a small turn can make a significant difference.
  7. Do not leave the PSI too high. PSI of 75 or more will overpower the RO unit, causing waste water to run down the drain even when not making water.
  8. Remember, this is not a variable volume pump; it is either ON or OFF. It turns ON when making water and OFF when not making water.
  9. Now, connect the pump to the RO unit.
  10. Note: the brass control valve is normally closed (screwed down position). Typically, you will leave this alone unless your pump cycles on and off while making water. If it does, open it just a bit to balance the water until the cycling stops. Occasionally, you may need to open this valve to help adjust the pressure in step 6.

Booster Pump

"I will say this is a great little pump. I am still trying to tune it in just right but I’m working on it. I only wish it was a pump that was on and you could tune it to the exact pressure you want not just a trip switch that has the pump on or off."

BOOSTER PUMP POWER STATION

"Good little unit. Easy to install. Called in and got a little help. The pressure sensor is finicky. Needs very fine adjustments, and if you have fluctuating water pressure like me, you need to keep an eye on it. But the unit does the trick, and it works great! I've had it for a few weeks now, and it is really helping out."
